Frequently Asked Security Questions

What kind of cameras do I need?

There are 4 variables to consider for your camera application: Colour vs. BW, Indoor vs. Outdoor, Day vs Night and Range. Colour cameras are almost always chosen for all applications. Where light levels change drastically, a Day/Night camera is best solution. If light levels are extremely low, choose cameras with built-in infrared illuminators (Night IR Cameras). Always choose high resolution cameras with wide dynamic range, whenever possible, to capture clear images.

What is an intercom system?

Intercom systems allow you to speak with people in other areas without using phone lines. This type of system would be ideal in a reception or lobby area, where visitors are likely to come to the front entrance. These systems are also useful at home to communicate bewteen different rooms.

What does a basic intrusion alarm system include?

The basic system includes magnetic sensors on the doors and windows. These sensors will notify you when a door or window is opened. However, these sensors do not protect against glass breakage, although additional glass break detectors can also be installed. The sensors are connected to a control panel that is operated by a keypad. The control panel processes an intrusion signal and rings sirens and communicates to a monitoring service, which then calls the owner and police department.
