Home theatre, also called home cinema, seeks to reproduce cinema quality video and audio in the home. Technically, a home theatre could be as basic as a simple arrangement of input devices (i.e. HD DVD, VHS), processing devices (i.e. AV receiver or a preamplifier), audio output (i.e. speakers and a subwoofer), and a video output (i.e. LCD, projector, plasma).
The arrangement and complexity of the system will be determined by the customers. The reproduction of cinema sound is created by the receiver. Typically, the most basic home theatre receiver comes as 5.1 Dolby digital or THX. This means it has 5 to 6 channels of amplifications. Basically, the 5.1 is broken down into the total of 5 speakers (front left, front right, center, rear left and rear right) and a subwoofer. Similarly, when speaking about 6.1 and 7.1, the amount of surround speakers are increased in the setup.
A video projector takes a video signal and projects the corresponding image on a projection screen using a lens system. All video projectors use a very bright light to project the image, and most modern ones can correct any curves, blurriness, and other inconsistencies through manual settings. Video projectors are widely used for conference room presentations, classroom training, and home theatre applications.
